Oak Creek Internment Camp | Night

Stiles
It was a horribly awkward car ride on the way to Oak Creek. For one, Derek was mad at him. For two, they were on the way to a Japanese internment camp. For three, Scott kept giving him weird looks.

Well one of those he could ask about.

"Okay, Scott, what is it?"

Scott
"Nothing," he said quickly. Too quickly. "I'm fine."

Isaac
"Alright, I'm gonna say it." Of course he would. "You look like you're dying. You're pale and you're thin and you look like you're getting worse. We're all sitting here thinking it."

And it was his job to say it out loud. "When we find the other you is it gonna look like he's getting better?"

Scott
"What happens if he gets hurt?" Scott asked worriedly.

Stiles
"What do you mean, like if he dies then do I die?" Stiles asked. "I don't care. So long as no one else dies because of me."

And he was so not looking at Derek as he said this.

Derek
Derek stared out at the road, not reacting to that beyond the smell of soul crushing sadness. So. Hope the werewolves in the car enjoyed that. Aw yeah, smell his grief.

Stiles
Since Stiles couldn't smell anything, he kept going.

"I remember everything I did, Scott. I remember pushing that sword into you. I remember twisting it," he said. "I did worse to Derek and I remember that too."

Scott
"It wasn't you," Scott said.

Stiles
"Yeah but I remember it," he said. "You guys got to promise me, you can't let anybody else get hurt because of me."

Scott
Scott was grateful when they finally arrived at Oak Creek, because the smells in the car were killing him. Way to make everyone sadder with your sadness, Derek.

They were standing outside the gates when Kira and Allison arrived, armed with a katana and bow respectively. Scott waited until everybody was gathered by the gates before he started to speak. A half-assed speech was appropriate here, he was pretty sure.

"We've done this before, guys. Couple weeks ago we were standing around just like this. And we saved Malia. That was a total stranger. This is Lydia."

Derek
Back when they were still happy!

Derek rolled his eyes, distinctly remembering that adventure to be a shit show that only succeeded by sheer luck. Which, you know. Boded super well for this.

Allison
Allison thought the speech was sweet. "I'm here to save my best friend."

Scott
"And I'm here to save mine," Scott said, giving Stiles a look.

Isaac
"...I just didn't feel like doing any homework." Someone had to break up the cheese, and Isaac wasn't sorry for it.

Scott
Scott smiled for a moment before leading Stiles and Derek into the camp. He had a guess to where Lydia might be thanks to listening to Noshiko's long ass love story.

Kira
Which left Kira to lead Allison and Isaac through the courtyard, where her mother was waiting. With several Oni.

Kira might be grounded in the future.

Noshiko
So grounded, Kira. You were so grounded.

"Kira, turn around and go home and take your friends with you."

Kira
"I can't. When I looked at the game I realized who I was actually playing," she said. "You."

Allison
Allison had her bow at the ready. "Call them off."

Noshiko
"You think you can take him alive?" she asked. "You think you can save him?"

Kira
"What if we can?" Kira asked.

Noshiko
Noshiko shook her head. "I tried something like that 70 years ago. Your friend is gone."

Kira
"Are you sure? What if Stiles doesn't have to die?" she said. "Maybe Rhys didn't have to die either."

Oh yeah, she brought up your boyfriend.

Noshiko
The Oni stepped into a fighting stance, showing Noshiko's slip in emotions.

She quickly regained her composure, though the Oni didn't move. "I see I'm no longer the fox now, Kira. You are. But the nogitsune is still my demon to bury."

The Oni
Or maybe not.

Seconds later the Oni vanished, leaving black wisps of smoke behind them.

Noshiko
Nobody looked more surprised by that than Noshiko, though she felt the exact moment when her last tail snapped. She opened up the palm of her hand to find the firefly that had been resting there withering away and dying.

Kira
"Mom..." That look on her mother's face didn't mean good things.

Isaac
Isaac had absolutely no idea what was going on. Which wasn't really a surprise. "What is that? What does it mean?"

The nogitsune
"It means there's been a change in ownership." Hey, the nogitsune was happy to answer that question. He was standing calmly behind everyone else with the Oni in tow.

"Now they belong to me."

And now they were going to attack you!

Scott
Scott led Stiles and Derek inside the compound while Allison, Isaac and Kira hopefully held off the Oni long enough so they could get Lydia. Scott secretly hoped they'd be able to get to the nogitsune before the Oni as well because he was worried what killing the nogitsune would do to Stiles. They guy really looked like death at the moment.

He stopped for a moment once he was inside and focused his hearing. "She's here, this way."

Stiles
Stiles followed after Scott, trying not to stumble too much as he followed along. He had been feeling worse since he got out of the car but Lydia was the priority. No need to worry people more than he already had.

Derek
Derek kept his frown game strong, following behind Stiles. But he was ready to catch the idiot if he passed out on them. And then Stiles couldn't stop him from yanking away the pain!

...If he ignored his crippling guilt, that is.

Scott
Scott led them down a long, dark corridor, that matched the description of the place where Noshiko had finally taken down the nogitsune. At the end of the corridor was a metal caged door and behind that was Lydia.

The door opened rather easily, which Scott wondered about. "Lydia, are you alright?"

Lydia
Lydia did not look alright. In fact, it looked like that Scott, Derek and Stiles' presence upset her even more. "No! No, no, why are you here?"

Stiles
"We're here for you," Stiles said, looking confused.

Lydia
"You weren't supposed to be here!" Lydia said, looking frantic. "You didn't get my message?"

Derek
See, this is why Derek asked questions. This right here, guys.

"Why?" Derek asked, probably not going to get his answer.

Lydia
Nope, she wasn't going to answer directly. Mostly because she thought that a banshee telling people to stay away would be an obvious direction to...stay away.

Yeah her friends were stupid.

"Who else is here?" she asked. "Who came with you, who else is here?!"

Scott
Oh shit. They were so stupid. They should have listened and they were so stupid. Scott didn't know if she was worried about Allison or Kira or Isaac or whoever, but it didn't matter to him. He was off in a flash, not really worrying if they were following him.

Look, he may have been dumb some of the time but he could piece together what had her freaked out.

Kira
Oh great. Kira had her katana up, getting into the fight after she was sure her mother was out of harm's way. With her tails gone she was basically defenseless now.

Her eyes burned yellow as she took on the Oni two or three at a time, matching each of their sword strokes with one of her own.

Allison
Allison was letting loose arrows as fast as she could. Sadly few hit their target; most were getting chopped in half in mid-air.

The nogitsune
Meanwhile the nogitsune was standing off to the side enjoying the show. Much more entertaining than the Lydia/Stiles/Derek/Scott drama-thon he knew was going on inside.

Isaac
Isaac was not doing as well as Allison and Kira. His weapons were his claws and fangs which meant that he had to get close up in order to do any damage. Which, unfortunately for him, meant he was getting sliced up quite a bit.

And Oni wounds seemed to heal slower than most so he was fading fast.

Allison
Allison could see Isaac was struggling so she did her best to help. She used her bow to block an Oni's sword before it could slice up Isaac again, completely knocking the Oni off its feet.

Of course it got right back up again.

Isaac
"How do we stop them?!" Isaac shouted. He could taste blood in his mouth. Not good.

Noshiko
Noshiko shook her head from where she was in cover. "You can't!"

Isaac
Isaac had only just managed to get back up when the Oni were in front of him again. One sliced up his stomach and another jabbed a sword in him from the back.

His legs gave out and he fell to his knees, feeling lightheaded and his vision starting to tunnel.

Allison
Allison pulled out the arrow she had made that afternoon, the one with the silver arrowhead that signaled she had finished her training as a hunter. Then she took aim at the Oni threatening to finish Isaac off and shot it directly into its heart.

The Oni
The Oni looked down at itself in surprise, the wound around the arrow glowing a bright yellow. It only lasted for a few moments before it fell to the ground and turned to dust.

Isaac
Isaac looked on in shock. Even the other Oni seemed to be frozen with shock. She did it, Allison had killed an Oni.

The nogitsune
That hadn't been in the nogitsune's plans. He took a few steps back, just in case he'd have to make a quick escape. He'd be in trouble if they had figured out how to take down the Oni.

Lydia
"You shouldn't have come," Lydia said, trying to run after Scott but was really no match for a werewolf. Scott would make it in time he had to. "Why did none of you listen?"

Derek
Have you not met your friends, Lydia? Seriously.

"C'mon," Derek muttered, hooking an arm around Stiles' waist to keep up.

Stiles
The fact that Stiles didn't push Derek away was a bad sign. Especially because he was so out of it that he didn't even realize Derek was touching him.

Yeah everything was going all dark and tunnel-y now. "I can't--Derek--"

Stiles' stumbled once before everything went black and he fell forward, unconscious.

Derek
Which meant Derek had to pick him up princess style. Is that what you wanted? Is it?

You are just so lucky he was really strong, Stiles. He carefully moved to catch up with Lydia at least.

Lydia
Lydia had stopped running when she heard Stiles call out anyway. "Oh god is he going to be okay--"

Her sentence was choked off as she took in a surprised gasp of air. Lydia stood rigidly still and her eyes looked distant like she was seeing something happening far away.

Allison
Allison smiled to herself when the Oni went down. Her guess had been a long shot but it paid off. They could do this, they could destroy them.

Sadly victory was short lived. She didn't see the Oni come up beside her until it was too late. He shoved his katana into her stomach before she could defend herself.

Lydia
Down inside the encampment, Lydia's inhaled deeply before letting it all go in one loud, long, devastated scream. "ALLISON!"

Isaac
No no no no no no--Isaac struggled to get up, to do something but he was healing slowly. The Oni vanished and Allison was falling to the ground and he couldn't do a damn thing to stop it.

He heard a scream in the distance and knew it was Lydia and what that meant.

Scott
Scott had ran as fast as he could when Lydia told him why she didn't want them to come. He had hoped he could stop it, if he was only fast enough.

When he reached the gate to see Allison falling to the ground he knew it was too late. He pushed the gate open and ran up to her, seemingly not noticing Isaac or Kira or the lack of nogitsune and Oni.

He sat on the ground and gently pulled her into his arms. "Allison..."

Allison
"Did you find her?" Allison choked out. "Did you find Lydia? Is she okay?"

Scott
Scott nodded, trying to hold back tears. "Yeah she's okay."

He placed his hands on hers but found something odd about it. "I can't take your pain..."

Allison
"That's because it doesn't hurt." She sounded more at peace now that she knew Lydia was okay.

Scott
Scott let out a sob, unable to keep the tears from running down his face. "No, Allison, please."

Allison
"It's okay. It's okay. It's perfect," she said, her voice getting weaker. "I'm in the arms of my first love, the person I'll always love. I love you--I love you, Scott McCall."

Scott
"Allison please," Scott begged. "Please don't, Allison."

Isaac
Isaac was sitting up now, not bothering to cover up his tears. He could see Kira and her mother holding each other a few feet away and Scott lying there with Allison...he didn't know what to do. Allison was dying, his heart felt like it was going to break out of his chest and he never felt so helpless in his life.

He could hear Allison's heart slowing and knew it wouldn't be long.

Allison
"You have to tell my dad--" She sounded desperate now, like she was using the last of her strength to get this out. "You have to tell him--"

She couldn't finish it. She had tried so hard to hold on but it was too much. Her eyes closed when she took her last breath and her body went limp. Her hand fell out of Scott's and dropped to the ground in a final sort of way.

And then she was gone.

Scott
"No, no," Scott whispered, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "Please..."

His shoulders started shaking as he started to sob quietly.

Lydia
Lydia's screams dissolved into wracking sobs that seemed to take up whatever strength that she had left. She leaned into Derek heavily, muffling the crying and occasional murmurs of Allison's name into his jacket.

Derek
And really what more could he do but hold onto her? Because he knew well from experience no amount of soothing helped that pain.

He stayed still as long as she needed him to.

[Taken from TW 2x23 "Insatiable" and preplayed with the excellent [livejournal.com profile] justlurkinghere. Warning for major character death. It's an NPC but its extremely spoilerly. Warning for canon-level violence as well. NFI, NFB but OOC is appreciated]
